In my blog I will present a mental illness every week. Linked to this is the definition, possible symptoms and negative prejudices about the disease.
It is important that as a society we actively combat the stigma attached to mental illness. I would like to contribute to this in the future.
Due to my many years of professional experience as a registered nurse, I regularly stumbled upon the discrepancy between physical and mental illnesses with horror.
Mental illnesses such as depression, burn-out, anxiety, PTSB... (could list countless more) despite advances in medical research and better understanding of mental health issues, is not taken seriously or even stigmatized in our society.
In contrast to physical illnesses, which often have obvious symptoms, mental illnesses appear invisible at first. Unfortunately, this leads to a misperception in many people, so that the diseases are interpreted as less "real" or "serious". However, if one deals intensively with the clinical pictures, it becomes clear how high the suffering of the sick people is in reality.
